No, "an" would be wrong here, since I did want it to read as "anI". The use of "a" creates a pause before the quote to create emphasis. cf Mayhew 1872 "The Art of Poetry" p. 192-195.

I think the fact that the guy has a different name to me, and is only 17, might be a clue to any normal person that that embodiment isn't me.  ..0
