Title: Earth Day 2007 Project
Post by: Diane CBPFC on April 14, 2007, 06:17:31 PM
I?m not saying where I hope to be, but I plan to be someplace spectacular on Earth Day (Sunday, April 22nd) ? but wherever you may be on this planet, I want you to go out and take a photo ? if all you have is a buttercup forcing up through a crack in a sidewalk ? that?ll do ? if you have and ocean view or mountain vista, a photo of a bubbling stream or stately oak, that will be good.

Lets all pick one or two photos representing our view of our beautiful earth, which we take on that day and post them on this thread.

This will give you a week to find a free photo hosting service if you don?t already have one and charge up the batteries in your digital camera. If you don?t have a camera then a drawing will be okay so long as you put a little effort into it.  If you don?t have a camera or are able to draw at all, then worst case scenario I will accept poetry.  ;D

This will require bribing one of the offspring to show me how to do it but, okay, I'll give it a go. Tarky's obviously pre-empted this with his balloon shots but I will be out at the crack of dawn next Sunday, hoping a whale surfaces on the river Tay. Nice idea, Diane.

It's the final day of the Shrewsbury Cartoon Festival, so I'll be out...but I may take my camera......or post more balloon shots, if you can stand the excitement?

The rules are you have to take the pics on the day I think Tarkwin old bean. That means you'll have to book the balloon again.

I'll take some pics here. I was standing out amidst a seal colony on the island yesterday in beautiful sunshine. There was a mist over the totally calm water, with the Isle of Arran forming a perfect backdrop. Seals that weren't sun bathing on the rocks around us were swimming around with just their heads out of the water. I'd just finished a picnic with my current main bird, so it was a lovely afternoon all in all. Maybe I'll go back and take piccies next week.

Diane, you've done it again!  Thank you for your great idea...made me finally get to grips with signing up for a hosting service...now I just have to find that photo of Roger looking like Neil Diamond/Gilbert O'Sullivan at his 21st party...does that count? ::)

I'm ashamed to admit that I forgot all about this. The plan had been to get one of my kids to explain the concept of digital photography to me and post something on here. Neither of them is in at the moment and the light is going. I apologise and hope that Earth Day was productive for you. As compared to my...er...Dearth Day.

If it hadn't been for Nik Scott posting a similar themed cartoon on the American pro site I wouldn't have remembered this one from my hard drive, so thank/blame him.

Happy memories, Diane!  I have the same photo taken a long time ago on one trip to my friends in Calgary.  I haven't anything to post for Earth Day but can only thank you for cleaning out my desk drawers....I set up the hosting web site, charged up my camera and then couldn't find the USB connection to use the camera on the computer...but I cleared out the aforementioned drawers in the search and spent part of the day trundling to the paper recycling bin..does that count??

Beautiful photo, Diane---very reminiscent of Yellowstone.

You know, I seriously had to think that through for more than 30 seconds before I stopped myself posting to suggest that it should have been Jellystone, Roger - I've been in this business wa-a-a-ay too long.

Beautiful picture indeed, Diane. Reminds me of home (Scotland that is - I've never been to Canada, sadly). We also have a Banff...'nuff said.

Here's a picture looking down at the Kyles of Bute. The Isle of Bute is to the right. Sadly not taken last week, but compares favourable to the Rockies photo I feel.

I had not been to Banff for 12 years - and that time I had a baby so didn't go in the Hot Springs.

There has been a new wooden walkway built from the lookout cafe to the old weather station - it took us an hour and a half to walk up to the other mountain top and back - we were slowed down by some of the places on the path being like ice rinks. I got a suntan!

Nige that is a beautiful view - we used to go on camping holidays to Scotland every summer - Scotland is a wonderful place.
