Title: Another one bites the dust
Post by: Max on September 22, 2009, 06:22:57 PM
Found out today that the "Striker" cartoon strip has been dropped by the Sun, I don't think the paper even announced it.
Was never a favourite of mine but it did run for 24 years.

I was a bit surprised when I noticed this, Max. There were problems in the past---Pete Nash took the strip out of The Sun previously to launch his own Striker comic---but I presumed everything had been resolved. It may well be that Nash has decided to do something else but I'm only guessing. I always thought that Striker was brilliantly written and, although I wasn't all that keen on the computer graphics style to begin with, I warmed to it over the years. I must admit, I'm sad to see it go.

Trying not to sound too unkind, but the way Striker left the Sun the first time was a classic case of someone not knowing which side his bread was buttered. Anyone who had half an ounce of commercial savvy would have advised Pete against against removing Striker from its life support system. Ever.
