Well, thank you one and all.

It's great to have all these kind greetings from all my dear friends and Mince.

I'm off to Glasgow for an overnight stay - a lovely surprise from my beautiful Lucy.

The sea's really choppy as it's blowing a gale here just now, but the boats are running okay.

I like the way it announces my birthday on the calendar automatically. Clever ol' Diane.

That's probably the worst picture you could have shown of me, Lucy. The shirt plays optical patterns, my eyes are scrunched up, it's hardly a handsome pose, and you've even got an unattractive part of Singapore as a back-drop. There must be countless better photos.

I agree. Have you got one of Battersea Power Station, Lucy?

Good grief all that crabby whinging. No wonder Lucy set you out to sea on choppy water today.

Happy Birthday, Peeps! Hope you're enjoying your birthday treat, so thoughtfully arranged for you by Lucy.  I hope Lucy's enjoying it too - just ignore the old grump, Lucy.  :)

Enjoy Glasgow tonight.  ;D

Thanks everybody! Glasgow was great last night. We started off in The Counting House, on George Square, which has the most incredible ceiling I've ever seen in a pub. (No, I wasn't on the floor staring up into space...)

This is just one detail I found on the net. http://www.flickr.com/photos/68001853@N00/1805378546 There are full size figures all round the cornice, and also a huge glass dome in the centre. Apparently it used to be a bank HQ, so the money-no-object grandeur is understandable. It's a Wetherspoons now.

We then had tapas at a restaurant just across the road from the pub. It was a great night.

We saw millions of Rangers fans before the match, but not many after. They were badly beaten I understand!
