Title: Happy Birthday, Diane.
Post by: Roger Kettle on May 07, 2007, 10:03:13 PM
As I write this, there are still a couple of hours to go but Happy Birthday, Diane. I hope you have a wonderful day. I would never dream of asking a lady how old she is. By my reckoning, you've been a valued and loved contributor to this site for seven years. What percentage of your life is that?
Only joking. Have a great day and never, EVER , stop dropping in here.

What percentage of your life is that?

This is the kind of question I might have expected from our resident Math tutor - not my buddy Roger.

It was a toughie but the answer is.... 16.27% ;D

Thank you Roger - I am planning on doing something arty on my birthday - I am going to draw and colour in a mandala* - I have a new box of 60 coloured pencils.

*In practice, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically, a microcosm of the universe from the human perspective. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandala (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandala)

So if 16.27 % equals seven and you multiply that by..um..YOU'RE A HUNDRED AND TWENTY!!! Good Grief, woman, get some help to blow out the candles!

You could colour in some of the Beau Peep strips too, Diane. Hours of fun guaranteed.

Happy birthday!

Happy birthday, Diane. I wish I had time to colour things in.

I wish you did too Mince. Take tomorrow off and colour with me. Say to heck with the little sods - let them figure out their own math problems.

I don't know if I want to use up all my brown colouring in Nelson though TTIII.

Nige I had thought of colouring in the strips of my Beau Peep collection - it would probably add value for the serious collectors don't you think? However, the point is mute as my oldest son is getting the entire set when I die - this was a deal we came to sitting on the top of the Ferris Wheel as a condition that he wouldn't swing the seat back and forth any more.

Happy birthday Diane - I just spent ages working it out - you're 41.18!!!!

7 equals 16.27 divided by 100 times x

7 = 0.17x

x= 7 divided by 0.17 = 41.18

It would all look better if I knew how to write fractions on this.

Happy forty-first and nine fiftieths birthday. ???

Have a lovely day - sorry I have no pictures for you...

Thank you all for the birthday greetings - on this my 43rd birthday.  ;)

You should have remembered as last year I turned 42 and, after reading the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, thought I would discover the meaning of life in my 42nd year - sorry nothing to report at this time but I am planning on cleaning out my desk this weekend I may find it then.

Thank you Tom - that was pretty fancy  ;D

Here is my birthday mandala - thanks for the inspiration from TTIII I like to call it Mandela's Mandala

I was pleased seeing it is my first one - there are lots of little faults but the next one will be better.
