After many years of pedestrianing and using public transport, and as a result of necessity (for work travel) and the constant spiralling of bus fares to ridiculous levels, I finally (after many years putting it off) decided to learn to drive. As of yesterday afternoon, I am now fully licensed to be lazy whilst also damaging the environment.
Any congratulations will be accepted; Monetary donations most welcome.

Congratulations, Jack.
I, too, was a late starter in the driving malarky - I was 40 - it was the worst thing I ever did. I put on so much weight that I've never been able to shift it!

That's brilliant news, Jack. I think you should have a Beau Peep mug to celebrate the occasion. Sending the payment via PayPal is best.

I thought you were pretty old Jack? As in many many years putting it off. ;D

Well done, Jack! I never did get the hang of driving those horseless carriages.
-
Congratulations..it is great fun (from one who's been at it since 17!!)

And driving.
It's right what Roger says too. He even used to fall off his penny-farthing.
-
Yes, congratulations Jack!
And don't forget that to turn left at a roundabout, you must be in the right-hand lane, cut in in front of the car in front of you, swerve around the car in front of that narrowly missing the cyclist, and then slam on your brakes when the cyclist waves his fist at you. That might just apply to the drivers around here though... it's amazing what you see people do just to get one car in front (when you are waiting in traffic)...
-
Well done, that man! Always a good idea to have a Jack in your car.
-
Congratulations, Jack!
-
Yes, congratulations, Jack.
-
Many thanks to you all.
I shall put each of you on my list of people to try and avoid running over.

Jack, I've been at it longer. I'll get you first!
-
Jack, in my case, I think you'd better create a new list. Those who you don't want to bounce off...
-
So Jack, have you been out and about joy riding?
-
Good for you Jack. All you need now is a car.
-
So Jack, have you been out and about joy riding?
No, Diane. As Fyodor quite rightly pointed out, I now need a car. The trouble is that by the time you've spent a fortune on driving lessons, plus twenty-odd quid for the theory test, plus sixty-odd quid for the practical test, plus however much the provisional license cost in the first place... now that I've passed, I can't actually afford a car, let alone the insurance.
Still, at least I'll have an incredibly expensive form of ID, in the unlikely event that I ever need to show ID for anything.

car jacking?
