Title: Don't mention BT
Post by: Diamond Lil on May 09, 2010, 06:33:30 PM: Roger has asked me to let you all know that he doesn't have internet access at the moment. Seems he was asked at the end of March if he wanted a BT Broadband update. It took several calls throughout April to reitereate that he was happy with the setup he had but in the interests of perfection, did anyone want a couple of cats? The new hub arrived for him on Thursday, his house had a power cut during one night and now he can't get online.
I may have got the days wrong and mixed up some of the details but that's the gist of his phone call....I've spared you the chats to Mumbai, thoughts on BT and his wife driving across town to email a week's worth of Andy Capp from their daughter's computer.

He has no idea when the problem will be resolved but is with us in spirit.

I'm still dongling although moves are afoot to get my system up again. The power cut we had was coincidental and the problem is entirely down to BT who admit as much. 78 phonecalls have established that they terminated my old set-up and sent me a new system DESPITE them agreeing that I didn't order it.
It's been a restful few days.

Post by: Roger Kettle on May 10, 2010, 09:47:02 PM: BT are now sending me a third hub/router. I know this because an electronic phonecall told me so. (I pressed "one" like they told me). This will be activated tomorrow, despite the fact that the second one doesn't work yet. I didn't order the third OR the second. I was happy with the system I had. I have spoken to some nice people in India and some okay people in Yorkshire. I have also listened to hours of classical musak. Should a newspaper headline along the lines of "CARTOONIST SHOOTS HIMSELF" appear in the next few days, don't be surprised.
