2011. Doesn't that sound like a futuristic Science Fiction movie?
Anyway, it's time to wish you the very best for the coming year and thank you all for your continuing support of this site. It's much appreciated. Over the ten years we've been up and running, we've all become friends and have shared some great times and some desperately sad times. The best thing I can wish you all is good health. Joan's struggles in the past year have been a reminder of the important things in life and it's been an inspiration to have had an insight into the way she has coped. Thankfully, it has been a happy ending.
In 2011, I will become 60 years old which is clearly ridiculous. I'm a boy! When I wrote the first ever Beau Peep strip, I was 24. Ye Gods.
Enough of that! Have a great New Year, everybody, and many, many more!
-
It certainly does, Roger, and I still say it should be two thousand and eleven, not twenty eleven. Anyway, nobody's going to listen to me on that one, but thank you all for listening to me as I made my bumpy ride through 2010. It's been a year of highs and lows for me and it's made such a difference to me to be able to come in here and "let it all out" as it were. I've really appreciated being able to share with you and your wonderful support in return.
Here's to a great 2011, even if it does contain Roger's 60th birthday! Just another milestone, Roger. As you can imagine, my attitude to getting older has changed slightly. Roll on my 60th! Well, maybe not too quickly. ;)
Wishing you all health and happiness, Happy Hogmanay, everyone!
-
I'm not listening, Joan and the reason for my deaf ear is the year one thousand, nine hundred and eleven or, as it tends to be more commonly referred to, .........
Merry New Year.

I didn't realise there were so many youngsters on this board! :-*

"Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better person." ~Benjamin Franklin
Well I don't like to get all mushy - but I will. I am very fond of you all.
I will be spending the day getting my odd jobs caught up and preparing for a family game night with fancy nibbles. The world always throws a party for my eldest son's birthday - I guess I will make the cake though.
Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year, everyone.
I'll be going to bed early with a new book and a cup of drinking chocolate. Speak to you all next year!
-
Wishing everyone Peace, Good Health and a Prosperous 2011 !
-
Yes, happy MMXI to everyone!
-
Ditto Vulture's plans for me too but I wish all you partygoers a safe, happy night and may 2011 bring all you wish for. Thanks for a great year in your company.

That's precisely my point, Fyodor ... it's much easier to say 2 thousand and 11 than 1 thousand, 9 hundred and 11, it sounds better than twenty 11 and it's only two more little words. :)
Happy New Year to you all. I did stay up to see it in, but just watched the fireworks on TV (and heard them outside) and then went to bed. The other half had gone to bed already as he's sailing today.
It's a hot, but lovely, day here today and I'm sitting in the dining room as it's the coolest place to be at the moment and I'm not going to turn the ac on just for little old me. Having a quiet day at home catching up on emails. A dip in the pool will probably be in order later on. Have a lovely New Year, everyone. Wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2011 (read that which every way you want to). Happy Birthday to Evan, Diane!
Take care all,
Joan

Have a very happy New Year to all, especially Diane who has yet to celebrate it.
Roll on

So much for the early night with a book and a cup of cocoa!
I managed to keep my eyes open long enough to send a group message to the family just before twelve, only to be jerked awake by flashing blue lights and lots of shouting. Curiosity got the better of me and I just had to get up and do a bit of curtain twitching! I was then entertained by five police cars, four police vans, an ambulance and a paramedics emergency vehicle AND no less than eighteen police persons (goodness, don't they look young!), and three medics - who had all come round to our little estate (three blocks, three storeys high, set out in a 'U', with the main road at the open-end of the 'U') to look, and eventually find, ONE man!
Having caught the man somewhere in the bushes around the blocks, a little celebration ensued; whether it was because they had captured the guy, or it was a belated New Years' do, I couldn't tell. I got bored by about 1.30 and put myself back to bed.
Have a peaceful 2011! :-*

:o Crikey, Vulch! That must have been some man!
-
Vulch - what on earth had he done/was about to do??
I toddled off to bed as planned with a cracking wee book..."Delete at your Peril"...one man's replies to all those scam e-mails, invariably from somewhere on the African continent (thanks to bro and sister-in-law). Laughed out loud at it, listened to the fireworks and fell happily asleep.
The start of my year is peaceful and quiet but I wish I was going for a swim with Joan 8)
-
:o Crikey, Vulch! That must have been some man!
Well, from my vantage point (I live on the second floor ) he looked fairly innocuous - not surprising as he was surrounded by the persons in blue! - and he was bare to the waist; maybe his crime was wondering around half-naked on New Years' Eve/Day? An ambulance arrived with the first wave of police cars, so they must have had some idea that the suspect was injured!

Maybe they were trying to warm him up? Just the thought of it makes me shiver (which is good at the moment). Haven't quite made the pool yet, but am sitting outside contemplating it. Waiting for my sister to come on Skype. Not like her not to be up yet - maybe she had a high old time in Balerno last night!
Speaking of swimming, my cousin's son is taking a dip in the Clyde at Rhu today in aid of cancer research - good on him, but rather him than me, or should that be rather he than I? Where's Mince when you need him?
-
Happy new year, everyone.
-
I must be getting old , first time in years, spent a quiet new year, no partying till dawn and hang over the next day!
Had lovely meal last night at our local indian restaurant, then went back home for a night in and drinks .
Goodbye 2010, here's hoping for a great 2011! Happy New Year everyone , Cheers ;D
-
I treated the family to a couple of boxes of fireworks yesterday - so instead of watching the countdown on TV we were outside in the snow, holding hands in a circle and singing Old Lang Syne (with an S - thanks to Joan) - then firing off fireworks into the pitch black sky. One thing about guys I have noticed is how much they really love to blow things up.
2011 - let's make the most of it :)
-
Happy new year, everyone.
There he is! Happy New Year, Mincey! (http://users.tpg.com.au/pdcs01/wavey.gif)
I did go on about the S a bit, didn't I? Drives me nuts though.
-
Happy New Year, Mince. Welcome back.
-
Happy new year, everyone.
So, is that it till next year?

Come on, Tarks. He's a little stiff, having been away for so long. He'll soon get into the hang of it again.
-
Happy New Year to you all, Oooh look, you're standing under the mistletoe, :-* mwah! mwah!
-
Oh, was I? Thank you, Darling.
-
No, you got the manly handshake. I was brushing past you to get to A Woman.
-
It'll take more than a ******* brush, pal. >:(
-
Happy new year, everyone.
So, is that it till next year?
You want more?

No - just looking for reassurance.

No - just looking for reassurance.
You're just afraid that if I return, I'll outclass you on the board.
-
Ah - so you've been training hard while you've been away then?
-
No, I was just giving you time to regroup.
-
Did his last group kick him out, then?
-
Did his last group kick him out, then?
You mean "The Unoriginal Boring Twats"? Yes, they unanimously voted him out for not being intelligent or witty enough for the group.

Sigh! No, you haven't been training hard, have you? How disappointing!
-
No, you mean I don't need to "try hard" when faced with you. There's a difference.
-
For the record, I don't think Tarks is unoriginal.
