I've just finished a great book, courtesy of Roger, called "Blue Highways" by William Least Moon in which the writer travelled across the States and back using only those roads on the map marked blue i.e. no turnpikes, no major roads.  He started to notice that the best rest stops could be judged by the number of calendars on display.  A 3-calendar cafe would have definitely seen him stopping at your door for a cup of coffee, Diane  :)
