Title: Thank you to the C.B.P.F.C.
Post by: The Peepmaster on January 07, 2012, 02:08:38 PM
I'm truly touched.

The Chairperson of the C.B.P.F.C. (Diane), has sent me a beautiful potted plant (accompanied by a small box of Chocs).

Thank you Diane, and please thank all members of your chapter/branch, who voted for this kind act to take place.

I feel very privileged.

Is it a cyclamen? It's not a type I've seen before.

I am glad the plant did the job it was supposed to and that was to let you know that we at the C.B.P.F.C. care.

It is a cyclamen, I picked that because it represents “hope” in the Victorian language of flowers – and I hope Nige gets better soon.
 :)

Diane, as I know from personal experience, you're an extremely thoughtful and caring person. I'm starting to think you should be barred from the Beau Peep site.

I agree wholeheartedly, Roger, except for the last sentence. I know from personal experience that the members of this site are an extremely thoughtful and caring lot. Slightly deranged, perhaps, but then a little bit of abnormality is a good thing in my book.  :-*

Mince is all of those things - well in the last sentence, anyway.

I've looked up the authoritative text on this, i.e. "The Victorian Language Of Flowers" by J.R. Hartley and under "Cyclamen" it says "Cyclamens are best presented to someone who has suffered grievously and whom you wish to lampoon".

Things have got worse. Because I've been restricted, in which parts of the face I am able to shave, I've started to look a bit like Malcolm. However, I've been told that these effects wont be long-lasting, but it has disturbed me, none-the-less.

This morning I went to the dentist, and a young girl dentist (who's new there, and who also seems raw to the profession), was checking me out. The way she was handling things didn't give me a lot of confidence, especially as she had to ask my usual dentist to come in and advise on things. She's going to remove the remains of a lost tooth, that are under the gum, shortly. I'm not looking forward to that, given her apparent nervousness.

Diane is quite right when she described the cyclamen meaning "Hope" in the language of flowers, to the Victorians. That's what it said on the accompanying slip of paper.

Maybe Dennis could get a cyclamen for Christmas.
