I'm struggling.
Who was the photographer who accompanied the famous 1872 Grand Duke Alexis buffalo hunt?
In what year were the last government-issue Indian Wars Campaign badges struck?
My sad quest to complete this damn thing continues. Of the 20 questions, I've got 13 of them. I may be back.
-
I know how to spell Custer if that's any help? :-\
-
I think the photographer was David Bailey.
If I can be of any more help, just ask.
-
Pretty soon you will be the last one left in the club Roger - I win the Annual Canadian Beau Peep competition each year.

OH, THANK YOU, DIANE! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

What's a Custer?

What's a Custer?
I think it's the one on the right

You're welcome Rog - it is amazing the stuff Google will find.
-
Well, I tried my 200 books AND google and still couldn't find it. I'm also trying to find the act of Congress that was approved on June 22, 1876. I cant find anything specific to that date but it may have had something to do with the right to bear arms----though I would have thought it would have a more direct relevence to Custer, given the name of the quiz.
-
Is this it? It's got the date, Custer and congress in it.
http://lbha.org/Research/terryord.htm
-
I could only find the Indian Appropriations Act of June 22, 1874 so that is two year off.
-
It was three days before Custer's death, if that helps.
-
I am SO sorry! the date I should have given you is June 22 , 1866. I got confused with Custer's death in 1876. I apologise for the time you guys have wasted because of my stupidity.
-
Are you going to kill him, Diane, or shall I?
-
Does this help?

It wasn't that much of a waste of time Rog - I could have sorted a sock drawer but I've been putting that off anyway. ;D
-
Had Roger got the date correct, the sock drawer would be sorted, and so one morning in the not too distant future you won't have socks to wear and will be late to work, and your grumpiness will affect a co-worker who will go out drinking that night because he "hates himself" and get blind drunk and try to break into a top-secret nuclear bunker, and in dealing with him, someone will inadvertently fall on a button and launch the missiles.
Thanks, Roger - you just started World War III.
-
Oh, dear.
-
Any luck finding the answer yet Roger? It dosn't appear to be online - you may have to go to a library or get one of your Amerian friends to do that for you have them bug the librarian.
I'm rooting for you. ;D

Don't be silly and go worrying and upsetting ROger in the midst of his big Custer contest - the worst thing that could happen around here would be a case of cow tipping or toilet-papering a barn.
-
Diane, I still have a couple of weeks before sending in the answers so I'll keep at it. More importantly, what's cow tipping?
-
You mean this is a real competition? I thought it was a quaint joke...like a line out of an Alan Bennett play, or a Les Dawson monologue.
Wow! If you win, I think they should make a film about it - I can hear the brass band building up to the nerve-tingling decider question right now. A cross between Brassed Off and Rocky.
Who do you think should play you, Roger? Dustin Hoffman or David Essex?
-
More importantly, what's cow tipping?
You mean you've never had really good service from a cow?
-
Who do you think should play you, Roger? Dustin Hoffman or David Essex?
Someone old, grey and balding. When I was younger, people used to say I looked like Dudley Moore. Now it's Patrick Moore.

I never thought Dudley Moore was ugly.
-
I've been working all day on a good comeback for you, Nige....
I'm not ugly---YOU are!
-
Satire at its pinnacle.
-
I bet you ming an' all!
-
Don't.
-
I'm writing this down...
-
Wit and repartee is a special skill, Tarquin.
-
I'm writing this down...
Yes, well, I'm writing YOU down.
-

Oh, the tears are rolling down my cheeks. No, really!...
-
It's not just anyone that could moon at a passing train with his face!
-
Now now boys - play nicely. Anyway, they used to call Dudley Moore Cuddly Dudley didn't they? Give's a hug, Rog. :-*
-
It's not just anyone that could moon at a passing train with his face!
Word play now - all the classic devices. Keep it going chaps (but no tongues please).
I love it! Where's my pencil....?
-
Okay, Roger. I'm sorry I implied you were so ugly, that as a child, your Mum had to feed you with a catapult.

Okay, Roger. I'm sorry I implied you were so ugly, that as a child, your Mum had to feed you with a catapult.
In fact, isn't Roger's mum already in the record books for owning the longest barge pole?
-
This is getting out of hand. I wasn't suggesting Roger was hideously ugly. Just that Dudley Moore wasn't quite so much, er..
-
And it all started out so well too. Typical! Well I've stopped writing now, and I'm typing my complaint to the Humorous Online Humiliation Ombudsman (HOHO).
-
I'm trying to work out the route of this thread....
"Can anyone help with my Custer quiz?"
"You're ugly."
I'm off to Elizabeth's for a hug.

Mission accomplished then, Roger (call me suspicious!)?
-
I like you use of exclamation marks and question marks, Tarquin. It's almost artistic.
