I met the Archbishop of Canterbury once, and, although I am not a particularly religious person, I will never forget the first and indeed only words he ever spoke to me. Looking deep into my eyes he gently said:
"Son, put the candlesticks back, the police are on their way"
And so indeed did it come to pass...prophetic words indeed.
-
I nearly met Elvis as well. It was in New York, that famous toy store they have there, my wife and I were visiting just before Christmas, a business "thank you" trip which is the same as an ordinary business trip except you don't do any, business I mean. Sadly it was 1998 and Elvis had long "left the stadium" by then, but I definitely felt a connection...almost spooky in hindsight.
-
I've met Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. Oh, and Fergie.

Okay on drugs I bow to you unreservedly, but where in the subject line does it say "Celebrity brief name dropping?" Where's the drama ???, the pathos :( :), the lack of credibility :o, the lies! And everyone's met Sean Connery, people dive into shops to avoid him.
-
Steven told me to get out of the way (along with a few other extras). Harrison and Sean I just gawped at over the pre-shoot supper. Never have been impressed with the latter one ... But some on this forum like him. I just wish he would try an accent for a change.
-
Oh, and Gary Linneker can't draw to save his life...
-
Nice use of the first names, adds credibility, I may take you to my next "beg for a loan" session. I hope you're not still in the same line of work, once those guys read your post you may never work [or have to get out of the way] again. Mentioning Gary Linneker might have been a mistake unless you meant you kidnapped him once and tortured him by making him draw crisps and eat them but he was useless so you shot him? [See, a little pathos goes a long way].
-
Gary himself admitted his lack of artistry on the drawing front.
Nothing I said is bad for anyone and I'm not likely to ever meet them again.
I do have pictures in my defence.

No need, I believed you in the first place, as any additional "moments" from me will simply be a continuance of complete fabrication, not sure I can carry of the first name thing, other than Elvis, given how close he and I nearly were.

Btw, have you yet completed the 'all about me' all newbies are supposed to complete? Check mine out for the Steve and Harri tale.

Haven't seen it, I assume it's somewhere in the profile area?
-
I made the mistake of going through all the previous posts and threads on this forum once I had joined. Early on there was a questionnaire for members to complete about themselves, to aid conversation or to get a laugh. Its at 'Getting to know you'
The questionaire (originated and devised by Diane) is:
I thought it was about time we had an introduction of sorts and get to know one another better - answer any or all... or make up your own questions if you prefer
What is your real first name?
Where do you live, where were you born?
What do you do to earn a living? Do you like what you do?
What do you do to fulfill the artistic side of yourself?
What do you do to keep fit?
Favorite junk food?
What do you do to make the world better?
What books are currently on your nightstand?
Do you have a spouse, children, dogs, cats etc in your life?
Describe what, to you, would be a perfect weekend?
And now for the serious stuff?
Who is your favourtie Beau Peep character?
Which BP character are you most like?
How many of the 20 Beau Peep books have you read?
Which is your favourite BP book?
Have you met Roger or Andrew in real life?
-
I wouldn’t ask such questions now though. We all go through stages in our lives, that was during my brief but intense “nosy git phase”, I’m over that now.
-
I'm not.
-
I hope you at least got to use cut and paste, my wife doesn't know that much about me, although I think the Beau Beep element might still be relevant given that's why we're here [actually I was trying to order a pizza on-line but let's not get pedantic], and so:
Who is your favourite Beau Peep character?
The vultures [no favourites between father and son]
Which BP character are you most like?
Dennis
How many of the 20 Beau Peep books have you read?
Most of them over time except for the latest one which I am saving for when I deserve a reward of some kind
Which is your favourite BP book?
Don't have a favourite
Have you met Roger or Andrew in real life?
I have been blessed, so no
-
I've met them both, except for Andrew. One of them quite a few times. (Not the vultures.)
-
I nearly met Roger, Glasgow airport 1986, but as it turned out she was the waitress, in fairness it was an exceptional sandwich and an easy mistake to make.

I bet the beard was a dead giveaway.
-
Andrew's the one with the beard. I'm the good looking one.

Actually I think he meant the waitress and it was more of a faint moustache than a beard, I felt it was rather in poor taste to mention it all
