Title: Year of the Snake

I like the Chinese New Years - our post office does a great job on special stamps for one thing.

I am dropping off desserts for my son and his college roomies tomorrow. I made a snake to go on top of the apple pie from extra dough - I hope they will be impressed. My son lives with three Asian kids one of whom is an actual foreign student from China - he should be super impressed with my snake making effort. There is also a chocolate cake with heart sprinkles for Valentines Day.

CNY is another one of those nice little holidays like Groundhog Day that you can do something if you feel like it or not bother and nobody's mad at you.

He'll be horrified. Apparently, in China, having a snake made from pastry atop a pie is considered a harbinger of doom, "evoking the wrath of a thousand dragons, unleashing plagues of ants, and commencing a shaking of the hills which ceases only once the ground beneath our feet has split asunder".


Plus, it's fattening.

I've actually heard of this guy, I didn't know those were the official measurements for biggest Pants Python. Quite glad I don't have his problem. I have to go through airport security quite often, in different countries, and I get annoyed having to keep unpacking my laptop.

Tell me about it. The first time they asked me to get out anything containing liquid, I simply misunderstood. I was bursting too.  :-[
