Title: Self Aggrandisement

As some of you know, I am in a group called Toastmasters – which is a group of people who meet once a week for an hour and practice talking and drinking coffee. (No, not at the same time). If we talk enough times we earn shiny badges from Toastmasters International.
For some reason, after a couple of years of dodging it, I became President once again. It now falls on me to emcee the year end Dinner and Awards night. I had to go through the statistics and try to think of something nice to say about all 16 members (even the past President who buggered off to Saskatchewan and stuck me with this job) I am making up framed certificates for everyone in the club for things like “Excellence in Leadership Award” and “Humorist of the Year” etc.
It can’t be avoided but I will have to give myself the “Toastmaster of the Year” award because I clearly earned the most points over the year. How embarrassing is that. It will be bad enough giving myself the big title certificate, but the life-size statue I have made out of papier-mâché to honour myself is going to be a fire hazard at the BBQ.

Use the award as an excuse to step down as president.

Why would I want to disband it? These people think I rock and the coffee is excellent.
