...you get presents the day after your birthday? Like my first grandchild, who arrived this morning, several hours too late for his Grandfather's 55th. Mind you, little Alasdair did his level best to make it, by being a full five weeks earlier than expected.
And he is rather wonderful! :)
-
Congratulations, Tarks. May he sleep well and never be a bother, and may you spoil him as only grandparents can.
Superb.
:) :) :)

Great news, mate! I presume you presented him with a St. Johnstone scarf...

Surely not until he gets all his jags? ;D

Congratulations and a happy belated birthday :)

Thank you, all. It's been a heck of a day! All good.
Roger, I actually have an even better plan than that, which ought to ensure his allegiance from the start. Odd - I'm against infant christenings/baptisms/dedications, etc., on the grounds that such things are too important a decision to be left to parents. But when it comes to football... Granddad's rule!
-
Great news. Welcome Alasdair.
-
Well done, and enjoy your many years of grandaddery.
My eldest is 34 and has shown no intention of making me a grandad, bless him.

Malky, had little Alasdair been born on his due date, it would have been two days before his mum's 30th birthday. With four daughters, my first Granddad steps have been a long time coming. Not that I'm complaining - I couldn't wait to become a dad at 24, and I don't regret it for a second, but in truth I probably should have waited till I'd seen a little more of life, as my daughter and her husband have done. They have good careers, have travelled extensively, and have just moved into a beautiful house that my son-in-law pretty much built himself before bringing another life into their own. Where my eldest daughter gets her exceedingly good sense from, I have no idea! It's certainly not genetic.
I've not long returned from a hugely enjoyable 650 mile road trip to spend an evening with the wee man, and am happy to report that all are doing exceedingly well, and are already settling back into their new home. Thank you again for all your lovely comments!
-
Sensible parents combined with a fun Granddad - sound perfect for the wee man.
-
650 miles? :o
Last time I drove that distance, it was to get away from the kids. How they recognised me with my beard and loin cloth is beyond me. It's bloody Bear Grylls fault you can't hide from anyone in the wilderness anymore.
-
Many congratulations Tarks!
-
Thank you, Rob.
Diane, I hope you're right - the converse doesn't bear thinking about.
Sandy, I'm slowly building up a picture of you. In fact, the dodgy dossier is filling up nicely! 8)

It's ok, Tarks. Anyone who has ever thought the worst of me has never been disappointed. ;)
