I have been reading old posts, especially one about whether a writer can create a character more intelligent than himself. Nowadays my posts seem to be the posting equivalent of sleepy drooling. I think I have fallen asleep for a few years.

It's nothing to do with sleep, it's just when you pass 50!
Don't fight it, embrace it!
Welcome to the club. 8)

Rip Van Coulson...kinda catchy !

It's like when you kind of try to write posts sort of when you're tired like I am bit now they end up mostly rambling and incoherent like this one, assuming of course this one is, which it probably isn't, though with the way it's carrying on that might change if I don't just go to bed and give up on this post altogether, which I think I will, probably.

Well, not to get too technical I can see how it might be tough, posting here and saving the world at the same time, all I can suggest is you do what I do when I need to get a little clarity in my life, go visit a white supremacist forum and start a flame war...I usually lead with "...we are all brothers under the skin"
On a lighter note [!] I can say with hand on heart that I enjoy many of your posts, I find them coherent, witty, informed, pithy and yet tinged with human sympathy and empathy [please address the cheque to "Seriously, I am this desperate Limited"].
I think Clifford T Ward got it right when he sang "I'm not waving, I'm drowning" but then again he also sang "I'm insane over cellophane" so perhaps not...
-
And you made me laugh with the "cheque". I think we should take over this board with some kind of flanking movement combined with a wedge formation, or just continuing to talk drivel might have the same effect.

I'm with you in spirit, but in reality this one's not a winner. For starters there are two of us, and by coincidence there are usually two flanks, if you're on the right flank and I'm on the left flank then the centre ground is as wide open as a prostitutes...well you get the picture. The wedge formation is out too, I can't dance to save my life and a wedge is literally impossible with a thong [possibly too much information].
Now "talking drivel", there's another story, totally onboard with that one [clearly]. I did smile at the idea of two people "taking over a board" at least until it dawned on me that in this case we actually represent at least 20% of the active posters...you may have something [although it can probably be prevented with a good salve].

There will be absolutely no flanking or wedging on this board, not while I'm an administrator there won't. :\
Rest assured, folks!
(Any chance of an Admin password reminder please?)

"ooh er missus" [A comment which, according to "The Big Boys Book of Forum Etiquette", is guaranteed to raise the tone of any discussion]

Good, I could do with some rest.

Ah, but it's beautifully formatted.

Ah, but it's beautifully formatted.
True, true, and, on reflection, it does have a certain...panache, or at least pancake. If I didn't know I was such a nice guy I would begin to suspect a tinge of jealousy, heat waves in Spain whilst I sit here watching my Greek tan commit suicide rather than face another Isle of Man "summer's day" of drizzle followed by rain followed by...

Bronzed...........Wet

Hope these help, Red.

Nice list, and brought back fond [and occasionally vague] memories of when I lived in Scotland, all that heather, she really was a big girl...

Isn't she usually atop Peat ?
For a packet of fags she'd be atop anyone, at one point the village she lived in were planning to ostracize her for dallying with a sassenach but they'd lost their Ost [in a card game rumour has it]. Happy days indeed...when we got too hot she'd reach across the bed and open the fridge door...
