Okay, clicking this link elicited a massive site content warning, and every siren in Christendom went off.
Needless to say, I hastily retreated. Was this opening post your doing, Agent Coulson?
-
If you mean your browser gave you a warning, try using Chrome. It's an interactive animation.
-
I was using Chrome. And McAfee jumped in with "When we visited this site, we found it exhibited one or more risky behaviors."
-
It has a flash animation. Perhaps it hates flash animations. I never install virus checkers - useless pieces of rubbish.
-
I'm sure if it does hate flash animations that it's all flash animations, and nothing personal. So it's perfectly safe then?
-
It was safe for me. It's a baked bean flash.
Try his blog: http://blog.simonpanrucker.com/ (http://blog.simonpanrucker.com/)
-
Hmmmm - same warning....... :-\
-
And you believe McAfee because . . . ?
AVG says it's fine (http://www.avgthreatlabs.com/ww-en/website-safety-reports/domain/simonpanrucker.com/) and so does Google (http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=simonpanrucker.com).
-
Because I pay them to scare me like this.
Okay - I'll take the plunge...
-
So far, so good. As far as I can tell, I'm still in the land of the living, and SO glad I took the risk.
-
Because I pay them to scare me like this.
And you pay them as well? Use AVG Free (http://free.avg.com/gb-en/homepage), or the free antivirus from Avast or Avira: some reviews say they are better than McAfee anyway (though some say they are slightly worse). Personally, I don't bother with any of them as they slow down the computer. I tend to reinstall my computers at regular intervals.
-
I've only just renewed my subscription, so they'll be scaring me for another year. Perhaps next time. They tell me they've removed 4 viruses in the past two years though...

They tell me they've removed 4 viruses in the past two years though...
Are they likely to tell you that they're not needed? Were they viruses or just harmless cookies, temporary files, false positives?
-
Yes.
-
Yes.
Well, in that case, I think you know what you have to do.
By the way, I have a written a program that creates popups about finding viruses vigorously tracks down all viruses. It's £200 a year, which is a 50% saving on the usual totally made-up price of £400 a year.

Yes.
-
And have you done it yet?
-
Y...no.

Wow! That must be a bargain. Can I have two, please?
