Apologies for the silence---I've just returned from a week in Sao Rafael, Portugal, with my wife. I did the usual things. I swam twice a day and went for long walks, pretending this was compensating for the cold beers, wine and seafood that came my way every evening. It were grand.
I've had a quick look at the stuff that I've missed on here and can't see anything that requires a direct answer from me. If I'm wrong about that, please let me know. I did notice a reference to the song "Overkill" by Colin Hay. I've loved that since I first heard it in the wonderful "Scrubs" sitcom. He produces a lot of good stuff.
At the villa we rented, there were quite a few books available to read and I picked up one called Worth Dying For by Lee Child. Not an author I was familiar with and not the kind of book I normally read but what a treat. Violent and brutal, but beautifully written. Judging by the crits on the inside cover, he is hugely respected by the quality press and I can understand why. Anyone else read any of his stuff?
Okay, it's feet-up time and back to work tomorrow...

Unless he did "Where's Wally?"...then nope !

Very true, I've half a dozen of his albums, and I got hooked via the same episode of scrubs.

Good read, that's the fifteenth book of a series called "Jack Reacher", I have them all but they're on Kindle and I suspect you don't have one of them! Tom Cruise did a terrible movie in 2012 based on one of the books, terrible at least if you had read the book first, I could only watch the first ten minutes. I think there is another film due as well...can't wait...
Welcome back.

I loved Scrubs ages ago, but I don't think I could enjoy it as much now: I saw an episode and it seemed a little stupid and annoying. I will have to try them out again though.

So, Roger, what was Sao Rafael like? Have you been to Albufeira or Nerja?
-
Guess who's just found a map of Europe.
-
Sao Rafael is just a couple of miles from Albufeira---a much quieter and more genteel place as befits my current needs. It has a bar and several restaurants all within staggering distance.

When did they move Portugal to Europe? Why wasn't I consulted? What's a map? These questions and more on tonight's "Stupid World" brought to you by the makers of "Aqueduct Antics" a light-hearted romp featuring the follies of the maintenance crew of this 19th Century delight, and the equally delightful town of Nerja...

Like Red, I too have all the Reacher books on Kindle. They are a good read and I thought the film was good. Tom Cruise played the character of Reacher well, but unfortunately was a little vertically challenged to truly represent the character. The fight scene outside the bar was a good representation of the book and got me to read them all (as the film was based on book 9 'One Shot'). Have just started a similar series by Mark Dawson (John Milton series).

I might have to give them a go, since everyone is singing their praises.
-
Not everyone. I found them insipid, uninspiring and predictable.
I need covers to be far more eye-catching than that before I read books.
-
You also need to learn to read as well. ;D
