Title: Apprentice
Post by: Mince on December 19, 2015, 11:18:20 AM
I stopped watching after the first series. But my wife enjoys the show, and she's got me into it again. Soon I'll be into all those reality shows, watching nobodies being useless at the pointless.

They are addictive, I do my best not to watch the goggle box for that very reason, a momentary pause at the living room door can quickly turn into ten minutes of some bake off, or cake off or whatever.  In such circumstances I am usually saved by the adverts break.

THe really crazy ones are for things that are a little dull - like cooking or remodeling a home - the only way to make them seem interesting is to have the contestants race against a clock.

Red, we watch about six hours of television a week, with extra if we have a film to watch. We never watch television live as it is being shown, and so never have a television licence.

Diane, that's actually quite true: they ought to have one where you have to relax for an hour but you have to do it in five minutes.

I'm shocked, even I support the beloved BBC!   I probably watch as much as you, mostly films, and mostly downloaded.   My wife is the TV expert these days, for some sad reason I am totally impressed she can stop a program midway and then go back to it.

Always reminds me of the old joke when the man demonstrates this to the old lady, and she says won't that upset everyone else who is watching it?   I recently got hold of a copy of "In which we serve" an old war film made in 1942 - a true classic.   Now I just need the right moment to watch it.

They are a bunch of w***kers who terrorise housewives to get their money. The sooner it's abolished or changed to pay-to-view, the better.

Don't beat about the bush, just say what you mean.   We didn't have a telly when I was a kid, the same kid whose dad worked in the pop factory also had a telly, I remember about ten or more scruffy little urchins all grouped around it, mesmerised.

I like the Beeb, overpriced, badly managed, and yet they still produce programmes that are the envy of the world.   Your wish is likely to be granted, sooner rather than later, but I'll be a little sad when it happens.

I love watching shows from the UK - the most recent gem is "The Detectorists"  :)

I had heard about that, but not yet got round to watching it. It's written by Mackenzie Crook, who played Gareth Keenan in The Office.

Yes, it is even more funny when you know that and see how he makes his co-star act when performing musically.
