I was brought up on board games by my parents - especially Risk. My Dad was vicious, and would wipe out my brother and me with ruthless efficiency. We quickly learnt how to deal with a
complete bastard master strategist and eventually beat him at his own game.
I played a game recently, and one of the players was a twelve-year-old boy, a relative of mine, whom I upset by quickly wiping him off the board. Perhaps I'm becoming like my dad.

It was probably the air-punching, knee-sliding, and the lap of honour that pushed the sensitive lad over the edge.

Priceless image!

With my father it was chess, until I managed to win, after that... We have some friends we visit, or they come to us and we play various board games, my friend Phil is seemingly a genius and wins virtually all the none-chance games, git. We tend to try new games quite often, but then gradually head back to old favourites, my wife did some extra "Mission" cards for Risk, all were the same and I quote "Kill John first"...nice woman.

The new rules for Risk are a disaster. I found the old rules online.

Never played 'Risk'. Does it have cool tokens, like Monopoly?
I got 'SPLAT!' (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Splat-Game/dp/B01B2P31H0) for Christmas last year, but no-one in this house wants to play it with me. >:(
It's no fun on your own...well, not much anyway.
