I think my wife and I are becoming hoarders. I have two sheds, and both are so overflowing with stuff we don't want in our house, it's hard to find anything. Something has to go, but everything I pick up I think might come in handy at some time, usually just after I have thrown it away.
I have water pistols, hundreds of glow sticks, plastic bags, and cardboard boxes to name just a few things.

I'm guessing you could do without the water pistols and the glow sticks. You know, just a thought.

Don't be silly - those are the best things!

I think the "can't find it" is the defining moment. My garage, which is actually more of a workshop, used to be nicknamed the TARDIS, i.e. it seemed to hold much more stuff than the the external view of its size would indicate. Eventually I hit the defining moment once too often, so I threw out everything stored but not used in the last five years, then narrowed that down to three years, and eventually just a year. Now I have a fair amount of "free" space, which is great. I also no longer struggle to find stuff, because it's not there, I threw it out and now have to go out and buy it...again. The one truly good result is that I can now see and use the workbench again but thanks to inbuilt obsolescence there's rarely anything to fix.
Pre-order your recycled pallet wood bird-box here...

I'm with Red on this one. An old work colleague told me if you haven't used something or had to look at something in two years, then just throw it out.
I'll miss the wife !
On a serious note though, I'll be moving house in Feb (probably) and the realisation of how much crap needs to get tossed out is horrendous. Hoarder? Didn't realise I was until a few weeks ago.

Are you moving further away or nearer?
-
To where?
-
To civilisation in general.
I was wondering the other day whether the Scottish have their own version of Santa Claus.

Yes to both, obviously.
