This is not a "Christmas" movie but it was one I had wanted to watch and showed up on Netflix on Christmas Day - I haven't laughed so much since watching The Detectorists.
The Hunt for the Wilderpeople

That looks excellent, Diane! I'll watch out for it.
-
It has 98% on RottenTomatoes. I'll watch it over Christmas.
-
Saw it a couple of weeks ago, agree with Diane it's a lovely wee family film.
My favourite Christmas film though has to be A Christmas Story from 1983, about a boy who only wants a BB gun. ;D

I saw that for the first time last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had never heard of it before then.
I love Muppets' Christmas Carol (which my wife thinks is stupid) and It's a Wonderful Life (which she has seen once and can't remember anything about).

And talking about It's a Wonderful Life, here's a question, which you will all get wrong. How far into the film do you see George run happily through downtown Bedford Falls waving at the buildings? I'll mark you correct if you get the answer to within 20 minutes of the actual time. The film is 2 hours and 10 minutes long and George jumps in the river to save Clarence 1 hour and 39 minutes into the film.

I still love the Muppet Christmas Carol...kinda, but not as much as I used to. For some reason best known to the Philistine who decided it should be, they cut the best (and arguably the most important) song from the film when they released it on DVD. Apparently, it was deemed too boring for kids by the utter idiots who mistook this for a kids' movie. This was the pivotal moment when Scrooge's transition from a heartless businessman to man who truly recognised the value of love was complete, and as such, it was absolutely crucial to the story.
But if that were not reason enough, it's a beautiful song, sung by a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice (and also the first time Michael Caine had ever 'sung' on screen), and for that alone, it should never have been consigned to the cutting room floor. Thankfully, I had the VHS version when my kids were young and I'd allow them to watch it with me, so I've enjoyed it many, many times. I can't sit through it with the same enthusiasm now though when it comes on the telly, as I know the Christmas Spirits will completely desert me when it comes to the relevant part of the movie and the scene doesn't turn up, and I want to shove the numpties that cut it up the rear end of the nearest turkey.
Enjoy...

Apparently, (http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Why-Muppet-Christmas-Carol-Deleted-Song-Was-Cut-Really-Should-Have-Stayed-68641.html) one of the DVD releases includes the song.

For anyone who is interested, it's about a minute into the film.
