The T.V. is on in the background and 60,000 Celtic fans are singing "You'll Never Walk Alone". I hate these sentimental, downbeat songs. I'd like to hear them sing "Nellie The Elephant". Or "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair".
-
My own adopted home team's 'choir' still enjoy regular renditions of "We're Blue, we're white - we're f****** dynamite, Super Saints, Super Sa-a-aints"...to the tune of...er...well, there's not really a tune, but it brings a tear to the eye.
-
I've never actually known of any public house called "The Black", but I often hear football fans singing songs asking who the Bar-Steward in there is.
-
The Celtic and Man United fans have an alliance of sorts, but when they play a friendly, a testimonial, for instance, the Celtic fans do insist on singing You'll Never Walk Alone, which really pees the United fans off, because it's a Liverpool song.
Yet the Celtic fans keep doing it.
Could they just be thick, d'you think?

I imagine it pees Rodgers and Hammerstein off even more. Liverpool song indeed. ::)

Rogers and Hammerstein wrote You'll Never Walk Alone! - I thought it was Gerry and the Pacemakers.

Wasn't that "Freddy and the Flintstones"?
