Title: Man Flu.
Post by: Roger Kettle on December 19, 2007, 09:29:21 AM
The reason I've been quietish recently is because of a case of the dreaded Man Flu. Women, of course, have no idea of the suffering involved but I'm sure you guys will understand.
Hope to be functioning normally in a few days.

Phew - thank goodness for that. I thought your computer may have been playing up. Hope you're well again soon, Roger. You have to be fit for Christmas!

Oh, I think your moaning and groaning gives women a very good idea of the suffering involved.  :D

For you, what exactly does this entail? I'm curious.

If Roger's unwell, that means we can't all gather for the Beau Peep Christmas festivities round at his house this year. D'you think he realises that?

Why not their is no reason that we should not enjoy ourselves.
We could always send him a hot toddy up stair whilst we have a party downstairs.

Have you got enough strips in reserve to tide the newspapers over, Roger? I'm sure Tranquil and I could always cobble some rubbish together if not. In any case, be sure to turn a negative into a positive, draw on your experience, and do some storylines involving mild colds and chills.

MILD? I was going through HELL!
Actually, I feel a lot better tonight and I'm doing a bit of writing. I lost about a day's work when I was hoping to gain one. Still, I should be able to take Christmas and Boxing Day off. Diamond Lil and I share the cooking. (She does all the intricate things like the stuffing, vegetables, pudding and whisky sauce. I put on an apron, drink gin and tonic and throw the turkey in the oven.)
Anyway, Peeps, I appreciate the offer of help---I know it was genuine.

That pretty much describes my role on Christmas morning, Roger.  ;D  I do most of the other stuff as well, although hubby has become a lot  more helpful since I went off to Scotland one year and left him to do it all himself.  He always makes the g & t, though - that's his original Christmas job. In my hand by 11 am, or else!

Looks like it's only going to be 23 degrees celsius here on Christmas day, thank God.  Nothing worse than having the oven on for five or so hours when the temperature is in the 30s.  Poor air conditioning unit can hardly cope.  Still not used to Christmas in a warm climate, even after 27 of them, give or take three or four in Scotland in that time.

Hope you're continuing to improve, Roger.  I picked up a litre bottle of Dalwhinnie Malt in Duty Free on my way back from NZ the other day - for medicinal purposes only, of course - wonder how often I'll get struck with the dreaded lurgie this winter?  ;)

About a bottle full I would think.
But then I am only a hanger on so I may be wrong.

Even hangers on are right sometimes, peter, and not one spelling mistake either!  ;)  Note to self: always go back and read what you've posted, or it may come back to haunt you in this place.

Mince will find something wrong with it.
