ICQ = I Can't Qualify.
AIM = Always I'm Stupid.
MSN = Me? Stupid Now!
YIM - Yes, I'm Moronic.
-
I don't know either
-
Okay. I'll be serious now. They're instant messaging services.
ICQ = I Seek You.
AIM = AOL Instant Messenger.
MSN = MicroSoft Now
YIM - Yahoo Instant Messenger
-
I preferred your earlier definitions.
Are these email services?
-
If you have one of the programs installed, you can "chat" (swap texts in the same panel) live with anyone else who has the same program installed. These days you have live webcam, and even voice protocol too often.

Roger will have just grasped the first principles of ICQ as the rest of us climb into the last space shuttle off the dying planet.
Mutant humans will emerge from their subterranean world, break into Roger's house and find him at his desk asking "What's LOL? Honestly, these daft acronyms make me laugh out loud".
-
Roger darling, promise you won't go off and leave this mutant all alone.

GARY T
That's "Get A Room, You Two" ::)

I can't say that I find this anything other than disturbing.
-
I wouldn't worry, Roger. It concerns me that I understood all of it - sign of a misspent middle age. :o Even worse is that it never occurred to me in those 10 years that ICQ stood for I Seek You.
-
I used to think that LOL meant "lots of love". My online bliss with a one lass went quickly sour when I discovered it meant "laugh out loud".

"with a one lass"?

Presumably, as it was the only one, she gets 'a one' special mention!
-
The word "one" is slang for "cute".
-
"with a one lass"?
I think that should be "with a windlass", a device for pulling or hoisting. Lucky old Mince.
-
Wow. I never knew you could get a device for pulling. Could have saved me a lot of wasted effort trying to pick up birds in the past.
-
Or hoisting them.
