I've always liked The Kinks. I think "Waterloo Sunset" is a great song. "Lola" and "Sunny Afternoon" are equally great. And "Apeman". And "You Really Got Me" and "All Day And All Of The Night".
Carry on.

I agree. I've always been a Kinks fan. Only recently I bought "Muswell Hillbillies" on CD, having previously had it years ago on LP.
My favourites include "Waterloo Sunset", "Days" and Dave Davis' "Death of a Clown",

They were okay I suppose, but a little lightweight for my tastes back then. I mean, they were no Herman's Hermits, now were they? Not to mention Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Grumpy, Mick and Tich.

It's odd, but I thought you were a much younger man. :D

Mehh.
They were ok, but they didn't groove me particularly. Waterloo Sunset was a classic, but Lola was the favourite song of a kid at my school who had an intellectual disability. He woud play it all the time (I was at boarding school and he shared a room with me - please no "birds of a feather" comments - there were six of us in the dorm) and so I got sick of the song, and by association The Kinks.
Davies seems to go through a re-evaluation every ten years as a new generation discovers him. He's sort of the muso's muso along with Manfred Mann.
