Here's a test I did pertaining to the other post

The point being:
I merely copy/pasted that video's URL from the YouTube address bar. I didn't use any square brackets or any of yer fancy book larnin'.

I find that if you just post a URL on its own, however, the reply box doesn't register that you've entered anything in it - you get an Error message.
So you have to accompany the video URL with a little typed message of your own, either just above or below it. Above is better.

So you just have to paste the URL like this....?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qqc_MS8j3_I

...and then add a comment like "this is something Roger is unable to do"!

Roger - notice that Mince's example shows how you display the URL, (and that's all you need to do to have the clip show), and yet the clip doesn't show! This is because if you look carefully, you will see that he's using "nobbc" without the inverted commas - or rather you WONT see that he's doing that, unless you go to "modify" and examine the coding behind the post. (Ignore the fact it's blue). The BBC coding doesn't show, unless you make an error, so where Mince has put the nobbc (and the same with a forward slash, where he's ending the coding instruction), you are not able to see it. The fact that it is working, and the clip isn't working, shows that it's there, and that it isn't showing. It's that easy.

And then there's the Cut & Paste Fairy...

Mince, that's all I DID do.

I know the subsequent posts were designed to catapult Kettle (sounds like a Mexican mountain) back into the stone age when he was doing so well, but....he was doing so WELL, c'maaaan!

This is all very entertaining but no links to YouTube have appeared on either of the threads discussing this. You guys are hopeless!

I did mention nobbc earlier, Roger.

You get the odd website programmer like Mince, who understands these things naturally. It's a peculiar talent he has.

Roger, if it's any consolation, they lost me many hours ago on this one. Not my understanding, of course, merely my interest.
