Title: Who actually says "poh tah toh"?
Post by: Malc on August 23, 2008, 02:22:20 PM
....as in the song "Let's Call The Whole Thing Off".

Yes, the Yanks say "toh may toh", but no-one says "poh TA toh".

It's a stupid lyric. And no, it hasn't just occurred to me, I've always thought it, so shurrup, roight?

This is how Johnny Foreigner says it when he's trying to assume a British accent.

I agree, Malc---it's a stupid AND annoying lyric. Of course, that hardly makes it unique in the world of popular music. I have a friend who gets enraged every time he hears the line "It's 2 a.m. in the morning" from some wishy-washy song whose title I can't remember. As he frequently points out, when else can you get 2 a.m.?

Diane, do the time zones in Canada have the same names as the ones in the States? Eastern, Pacific etc?
