Title: D'you think....
Post by: Tarquin Thunderthighs lll on September 10, 2008, 05:15:41 PM
....Joan's finally gone to bed?

Worst case of Dalwhinnie Jet Lag I've ever witnessed.  :-\ Sleep well and long, Joan!

Does look a little like she swallowed all of this black hole, end-of-the-world hype, doesn't it? As well as the Dalwhinnie.

Oh darn!  I thought you'd all decided to ignore my haverings.  :-[  I guess it's too late to delete anything.  All right, which one of you is going to draw me a new avatar - me looking totally embarrassed and jetlagged, with a touch of Dalwhinnie hangover.  ..0  Of course, I was wrong about the whisky helping the jetlag - it just adds another layer to it.  <-

I'm looking forward to tomorrow!

Dare I ask why, Roger?

The worst thing is I have to go out tonight - to a cocktail party.  It's only a pretend one, though.  My daughter's college are having an exhibition of their major works from last term.  They had to design and make a chair based on a famous film director's interpretation of a fairy tale.  Kate designed it and her dad made it - oh what fun that was!  Anyway, it turned out really well in the end, but it's not a chair you would sit on - looks a bit like my head feels today.  I haven't seen the finished chair yet, as I left before it was completed.

It's also our wedding anniversary today.  That will be celebrated later in the week.  Picked a good date, didn't we?

Remarkable recovery, Joan, Darnnit!

Unless of course you've still yet to sleep...and the bottle is not yet finished?

I think Roger was meaning that he (and we) were expecting your next post to be along the lines of "Blerrrgh!".

Exactly right, Tarks. Joan, I was waiting for "Dalwhinnie Revenge" to kick in but you seem to be in fine fettle. And you have nothing to be embarrassed about---your "haverings" were highly entertaining!

Thank you, Tom.

I cannot tell a lie - the "Blerrrgh!" bit came before I went to bed and yes, I did get there and the bottle is not finished and isn't likely to be for a long time, seeing as I'm the only one who (occasionally) drinks it.  Dalwhinnie revenge definitely kicked in in the morning - managed to get up and feed the dog, then went back to bed. By the time I posted here it was late afternoon and Dalwhinnie was still having its revenge on me, but it's amazing how one can create the illusion of being in fine fettle, when in fact, one's head feels like a lead weight, is slowly drooping towards the keyboard, and the inside of one's tummy is dancing the salsa.  Well, it's not really amazing, because you can't see or hear me.

I just want to make it clear that I am not in the habit of having late night Dalwhinnie binges.  In fact, that was a one off - don't know what got into me!  :o  Never again!  As one so frequently says.

I still feel decidedly "disconnected", but I'm attributing that to the jetlag - couldn't possibly be the Dalwhinnie, 36 hours later, could it?

Right, I'm going back to being a boring, respectable, mature wife and mother.  I'm going to try, anyway.

Peepmaster tried that, even with the pinny and dish mop, but didn't get as far as respectable or the later words.

Dare I say I liked Jetllag Joan? Don't try too hard, and keep the bottle handy.

I don't think you need to worry too much, TT.  That sentence doesn't really describe ordinary Joan.  the bottle will stay in the cupboard for some time, though.  ;)

The only two of those descriptors which I've achieved consistently are wife and mother, and only because they're a permanent state of affairs.  If you were to add qualifying adjectives to them, like good or bad, then things would be extremely inconsistent.

Btw, "mature" is meant in the sense of "grown up", not the dreaded "o" word!

We have to vote in Local Council elections today - how's that for boring?  Our council was sacked 7 years ago and having been away, I have absolutely no idea about most of the candidates.  I've just spent the last hour trying to find out something on the net, without much success.  I suppose I'm going to have to read all those leaflets they hand out as you go in to vote.  Pain in the ....!

It's compulsory to vote in Australia - $50 fine if you don't.

Daughter Kate's voting for the first time - not the best elections to start with.

Dear Council

When I vote, if it's sunny, I will vote for Candidate 1; if I am suffering from wind, I will vote for Candidate 2; and if someone starts a sentence with a vowel or "P" or "L" or "S", I will vote for Candidate 3.

Or you could just enter my vote randomly and automatically.
