I ought to have one of those! Great idea...

Lucy can't come out tonight as she's been working all day and is tired, so, really, it wouldn't be fair for me to go out alone.

I'll probably start at the Black Bull, then have a couple in the Golfers Bar, before doing a few songs once my tonsils are lube'd at the Palace.

Just remembered I had my tonsils out when I was 11.

We went out last night and I did a song at a different venue (The Esplanade). You get to perform on a stage there!

Just an idea Lucy but you could buy him a big tin of sticky toffee for Christmas.

Lucy, I'm sure there are other hobbies out there that will suit the tiny brain of Peeps. How about: coal-mining for beginners?; teach yourself how to become a human being?; lace making (otherwise known as 'tatting', I believe)?

You could always trade him in for a younger model. They're easier to train. The older ones are usually too set in their ways.

I'm not sure I'm happy about Lucy coming on my forum quite so often.  :-\

Lucy doesn't actually live with me, Pete.

I've decided to do the right thing and stay in, out of loyalty.

It's also raining heavily.

Peeps, I've just listened to that song you posted and---how can I put this? It's an average song with average guitar work and dreadful lyrics. Please tell me you don't sing this on Karaoke nights.

It used to sound good from a juke-box in a coffee-bar on Margate seafront.  :-[

Ah, that explains it! I used to love those old coffee bar days. I would always go to the jukebox and pick obscure B-sides in an attempt to appear cool. While everyone else went for "Satisfaction" or whatever by The Stones, I would pick "Spider and the Fly" on the flipside and stroll nonchalantly back to my glass of milk. (This was another attempt at being cool---everybody else was drinking coffee).
I didn't do too well with girls back then.

It's good to see you posting, Lucy - keep it up!  I'd be Peeps' groupie like a shot, but I fear it would be a bit too expensive for you - return business class airfares once a week from Australia might just break the bank.  Although, I suppose after a while I could use frequent flyer points.  Then after a couple of weeks, I'd be so confused, sozzled and jetlagged, I'd be able to sit through a whole session of his karaoke without flinching.  What d'you think?

Worth the expense to have the legendary Jetlag Joan in your corner, I reckon. Mind you, the double Dalwhinnies may just tip the scales.

Sharing the evening with a drunken sot is not to everyone's liking, Tarks.

I'm sure she won't mind.

I can see that any vestiges of dignity I had left have just flown out the window.  I don't know where that word "sozzled" came from - someone else must have stuck it in there.  I can assure you that Jetlag Joan will not be making an appearance for some time, if ever again.  Can't afford the airfares for one thing, and just the thought of a sip of Dalwhinnie (or any other whisky) makes me feel ever so slightly ill. That's an understatement, btw.

French champagne would not be refused, however.

Seriously, Peeps, on my next trip over, my first stop will be the Island of Bute on a Saturday night, to be royally entertained by the local karaoke talent.  You should be perfect by then - not likely to happen for a long time.  Did Lucy mention dancing?

PS I do think it's great that you get up in front of people and sing - I couldn't do it in a million years.  I'm very envious.
