It's been a great day so far, and seems set to continue that way, providing the inch and a half of snow doesn't disrupt things too much (I hear your hollow laughter from here, Diane). I'm heading out for a romantic posh meal and a sleepover in a plush hotel tonight, with breakfast in the morning if I'm good.

I've had loads of cracking prezzies from loads of cracking people, and spent most of the day tapping out thank-yous, including this one for your warm wishes (and the cake, Diane - splendid!).

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get on with being fifty...harrumph!.........

Life goes on the same, perhaps a little more precious than before, or, if you win the lottery a lot more like it should have been when you were 18.

You'd never know it to look at her - hope I look like she does when I get there (a long, long time from now, or so it seems!)

I was about to type "Me, too!", Joan, but then I began to have doubts that I'd really like to look like even a youthful 70-year-old woman in a couple of decades. Then again, by that time I probably won't mind a bit.
