I am starting water aerobics tonight - going with a couple of friends - all of us for the first time. My friend bought me a new towel so I'm all set. ;D
This got me thinking - what do you do to keep fit?
-
I'm so jealous. I'd love a new towel.
-
That is one thing about men eh. Blokes tend not to buy other blokes towels even if they are good buddies.
-
Peeps idea of getting fit.. walking 2 miles each day from his house to the pub!
I like the idea of keeping fit, as long as it doesn't involve any form of exercising. Too lazy to do that kind of thing :)
Good on you Dianne, keep it up!
-
Calories out > calories in
I would think a four mile walk would more than make up for a small glass of sherry.
-
Diane - do you remember that slogan, "Drink Canada Dry"? I would have tried it!
-
what...like two small sherries?
-
Anyway, back to the subject. You make a good point, Diane. I can't remember Roger ever buying me a towel.
-
My friend found a site where you punch in your weight and activity and they tell you how many calories you burn: http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc (http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc)
What is interesting is they even give you credit for playing cards and brushing your teeth!
-
The good thing is that the heavier you are, the more calories you burn. ;D Just off to do the exercise bike, weights and sit-ups. Smug old bat, do I hear you muttering ,,,?
Friend and I would be doing a sponsored type walk on the beach on Saturday, with pink pancakes at a restaurant at the finish, but it looks like an all weather gear kind of day with the possibility of getting extremely wet and muddy and the odd rogue wave creeping up the sand. We'll see - the pancakes are very tempting.
-
Pink pancakes??
-
What Diamond Lil said... ???
-
I think Pink Pancakes are pancakes that are politically correct.....!?
-
It's for the Breast Cancer Foundation, hence the pink. The run/walk along the beach is just a precursor to raising awareness of four men doing a run across the Simpson Desert. The 'boys' dress in red budgie smugglers and pink gumboots. ;D

Unfortunately, we won't be going as Elaine has to work and the weather is not set to improve. Today was atrocious - very grateful to another friend who drove me in for treatment.
-
Ah, now I see it! :)
-
My imagination has gone wild - wondering where on a man's outfit he could smuggle a budgie. And would it be worth the risk just for a pink pancake?
-
And something else too - until I saw those flood photos Malc posted last year, I imagined Australia as sunny all the time.
-
Your imagination shouldn't have to run very wild, Diane - budgie smugglers is an Australian slang term for Speedos. :) There's actually a brand of swimmers called Budgy Smugglers.
When it decides to rain in Australia, it really rains. Land of extremes. We even had a twister in Eastern Sydney yesterday and the day before a tornado did a lot of damage further up the coast.

We passed that car accident on the Roseville Bridge and there were a lot more than three cars involved.
The sunny skies are back today. I just looked out and the clouds have all blown away. Doesn't mean they won't come back.
The first two verses of "My Country" by Dorothea Mackellar say it all:
The love of field and coppice,
Of green and shaded lanes.
Of ordered woods and gardens
Is running in your veins,
Strong love of grey-blue distance
Brown streams and soft dim skies
I know but cannot share it,
My love is otherwise.
I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror -
The wide brown land for me!
Of course, in the first verse she's talking about England, not Scotland!

how many vegetarians can you eat a day?
-
Go, Diane, go! Well done, that chocolate's very important. ;D
-
What's aquasize?
Basically, it's playing silly buggers and horsing about in the water to cool music with a loonie shouting at you to go faster. Great fun.

how many vegetarians can you eat a day?
As many as I can catch.
-
exercise = aquacise?
-
I have recently taken up restacise, relaxacise, loungacise, and vegacise.
Tomorrow I am adding lazybastardacise to the list.
-
Well I hope you've stopped shouting at Diane to go faster.
-
I'm contemplating bettedavicise, and looking through garygilmorecise.
Well done, Diane! Wish I could say the same.

I can't go this week - life conspired against me in the form of a big lump on the side of kid #2's neck. We use the hospital emergancy in this town like a walk-in clinic at 8PM, as otherwise it is a 3 to 4 week for a regular doctor's appointment. I have to take him back on Wednesday so will miss both this week.
I haven't tried to lose weight in years - there are so many good products for sale these days when you start looking in the regular food shops such as Indian sauces that are 1/4 the calories and veggie burgers at 120 calories a pop. It costs more and takes time to plan it all but it is not the hardship dieting was years ago.
