In the Pink

Kate and I had a great time doing the Dove Pink Star Walk on Saturday night.  A bit slow at first - apparently there were 6,000 of us, but once we got going and spread out a bit, it was better.  It was a lovely night and all the "sights" were lit up - the Opera House in pink - for the occasion.  Our 5kms turned into about 8kms, as City Rail decided to do track work and close the inner city line, so we had to walk another couple of kilometres or so to and from the station.  Good fun had by all, even if I wasn't allowed to dance to the music as we passed the entertainment - too embarrassing for my daughter!

Kate and I in the pink - the spots on my hat are actually pink, but I think because they're shiny they came out black in the photos.  They weren't the only things that were shiny - forgot to put my face powder on!

Looks like an awesome event, Joan, for a great cause. Glad you enjoyed it, despite your daughter's orders - youth is so wasted on kids, isn't it?

Definitely, TT.  I'm not allowed to do anything enjoyable when my two are around.  As for talking to strangers in supermarket queues, or any public place, even if they talk to me first, well that's just unforgiveable!

Joan - you'll know you're old when you get to my age and start talking to complete strangers in a queue and your little (six feet tall) dears look at you with the indulgent smile of someone humouring the simple minded.

I know it's not like a contest or anything but my 14 year old is now 6"4". I use him to get things down from the top shelf for me. I am only 5'7" or at least I was - I think I am shrinking (in height anyway) with age.

It's when they stand in front of you, look over your head and say: Mum, mum, where are you? I can hear your voice but I can't see you!    :'( (I was 5'6" when I left school but the last medical showed that I was 5'5".)

I'm the shorty in the family, and I'm 5ft 8in - I am, I am - not shrinking! Used to be 5ft 8 and a half. Hubby is 5ft 10, Kate nearly 6ft and son 6ft 2.  John just mentioned to me the other day that we needed to raise all the mirrors in the bathrooms because he has to bend down to see himself - very important for a 22 year old male these days.  They're all stuck to the wall with glue, so he'll just have to keep stooping.

I know that look already, Vulture.  The rolling of the eyes is very familiar to me too.
