Thanks, Joan. I'm about to have another fabulous day: driving to Southend (in the pouring rain) for the first time, using a SatNav (birthday prezzie), also for the first time!  Undecided

Oh yuk! Hope it didn't pour all the way and the birthday prezzie worked.  My sister got one of those for her birthday too, because she nearly ended up in Wales looking for the Wedgwood factory (just off the M6) on her way down to visit her son and family in Gloucester. 

Joan, it bucketed down the whole way. I could barely see where I was going! Then, around mid-day, the sun came out and the day was so nice I've only just got back.

Satnav's are great - they never lose their temper at you, no matter how often you ignore them. Just don't bother investing in John Cleese's voice for the thing - there's only so many times that "bear left...beaver right!" is funny. Actually, that's a lie - it wasn't even funny the first time.

I'm going to try for Terry's voice.
