"Bum" does not mean the same thing in America as it does in the UK. "Bum" means a hobo or a worthless person, but in this case the expression simply means somewhere extremely remote or somewhere "out in the sticks" - a worthless place.

Phew. Feather, Fyodor and Peeps, your posts have tickled me there!

I may be wrong, but the ' :o ' may not solely be for the 'bum' part.

We have that expression in England as well. It became more well known and widespread here as more and more people met Peepmaster.

That's right. I could never hold back from describing Mince to them. I just felt they had to know.

I guess describing me as intelligent and handsome really got to you when all they called you was a bum.

I don’t have a strong opinion on this issue.

They probably are leftover from the days when there was an abundance of eggs in the summer months and no refrigeration to keep them over the winter.
I say eat the eggs if you want, don’t if you don’t want.

(Now where do I pick up my Nobel Peace Prize?)

P.S. Is Zezty drinking beer out of a hospital pee bottle?

You think that's beer????

I'm glad I pressed you on the point, Vulch. There are a couple of other points I'd like to press you on.

Malc, did you press Vulch in this thread?

Zesty, although now it does look like beer, I thought you were waving an egg-timer at us.
