Okay, I'm coming out...
« on: December 11, 2015, 02:59:33 PM »
...I've been afraid to type these words, they are almost too horrible to contemplate, but I'm an emotional mess so here goes...I'm starting to like Donald Trump.

Please note here that when I say "...like Donald Trump" I don't mean it in the context of a single word that spews from his odious mouth.   Nor for what constitutes his major policy statements, which owe more than a passing acquaintance to Looney Tune cartoons and for which underlying subtext appears to be "Let's make America white again".

No, I don't mean any of that.   I'm starting to like Donald Trump because there is a distinct possibility that he will cause one of the most spectacular implosions of a political party since the Liberal Party's coalition with the Conservatives.   This could be the swansong for the Republican Party and in a delicious twist of irony they finally really do have their own "Elephant in the room".

The "Silent Majority", as Trump's supporters have taken to calling themselves, are increasing in numbers, partially due I am sure to inbreeding but more immediately because "He tells it as it is".   In this case "Telling it like it is" means "I don't like blacks" - "I don't like Mexicans" - "I don't like Muslims" and so on infinitum.

Sadly for the Republican Party this "Silent Majority" just won't stay, well, silent, and whilst the other candidates for the nomination of the party have shied away from the latest bit of extremist diatribe Mr Trump has vomited, they have been dragged, kicking and screaming, to the far right.

I admit a hint of "bated breath" has entered my life as I daily seek further less than subtle hints of political suicide, and a passing desire to host the worlds first political "Oscar" night.

So when he said, " I have a dream...", he could have been beaten with, " Well, I have a nightmare" ?

Well, at least I know who he is now. Perhaps someone's been reading The Art of War and is playing The Long Game.

Well if anyone it would have to be one or both of the Clintons, Trumps not good with big words.  At first I found it intriguing that there was a theory Bill Clinton put Trump up to this, or at least encouraged him.   I thought no, no-one is that stupid, then I remembered George W Bush, Clinton himself, Reagan and Nixon, and I realised there is nothing stupid some people won't do to be President of the United States. Throw in the Silent Majority and it's party time.
