No, I still see it as an innocent posting. I think it's all been blown up out of proportion. I agree with Roger and that imbecile, Mince, for once.

I'm off to Newcastle tomorrow for a few days. I'll try to look in on here. Hopefully there'll be some pubs there I can visit. Not sure if I'll understand the Geordie dialect. I'll make an effort.

OK, here's my take on it.
Firstly, I apologise if anyone was offended, that wasn't my intention.
I didn't go looking for the clip, it was posted on another forum I visit.
On reading the previous posts, I agree that I should have added another couple of lines in the post
indicating that I in no way found this item funny and the only reason for the "Police in America" headline is because that is where it happened.
We all know that there are bad apples everywhere and this was maybe unfair of me in tarring them all with the same brush, this wasn't meant.

Rightly or wrongly, I feel I have to put my tuppence worth in here.

Having had a bad experience with police in 'the land of the free', I found the clip not so much shocking as typical. Albeit, MY experience came nowhere near this guy's, and occurred at the Boulder border, I ended up refusing to enter the USA because of it.


I feel that, as Peeps says: It's been blown up out of all proportion. For goodness sake, it's only a video clip. Just one of many that can be found floating through the ether every second, ranging from mobile pictures of someone being kicked to death to children being bullied.


This is not a political forum; if you don't actually agree with something posted, you should do the British thing and ignore it - don't bring people down by treating them like recalcitrant children.

I agree with Tarquin, and also believe that Peepmaster agrees with him, and even though Tarquin said he agreed only with Calypso, he even agreed with me, albeit he added a "Write a better title next time" warning.

Just for those who might be interested in the outcome, Charlette was booked for committing a felony.

I would also like to add that the behavior of this deputy is NOT typical of the way American police behave.

TAMPA, Fla. - A deputy who was videotaped dumping a paralyzed man out of his wheelchair onto a Tampa jailhouse floor turned herself in.


Jail records show Charlette Marshall-Jones was booked into the Orient Road Jail early Saturday morning.
It is the same jail where Marshall-Jones worked. She is accused of tipping 32-year-old Brian Sterner out of his wheelchair. A videotape of the incident has been widely circulated.

The Hillsborough County deputy was charged with one count of felony abuse of a disabled person and released after posting $3,500 bail. An attorney for Marshall-Jones listed in jail records did not immediately return a phone message.
