This is on the Beau Peep Notice Board calendar Vulture.
Look up. It's in between "My Messages" and "Members" - That is how we knew it was Peter's and Elizabeth's birthdays this week.
You should check it out because someone has put a turkey purchasing and defrosting schedule on there.
I would like to say that I do not defrost my turkey.
I cook it frozen, breast down in the roasting pan. It doesn't look very prety - but then who wants all their veggies to go cold while someone farts around carving turkey at the table like a Norman Rockwell painting? My turkeys are moist and delicious - I don't even take the gibblets out until the turkey is cooked (then I throw them away). I cook my stuffing in the microwave and not in the turkey's bum.
This has been cooking tips from the C.B.P.F.C.
Thanks, Diane. I've never seen
the calendar before. I shall check it out on a regular basis (maybe).
I don't think I'd risk cooking an unthawed lump of meat;
the gibblets are stuck in the neck and I wouldn't fancy the rest of the bird with that horrible mess inside it;
the only thing I stick up the turkey's bum is garlic and an onion;
the vegetables are ALWAYS perfect, no matter when the turkey is dished out (I don't do the veg!);
like you, I cook my sausagemeat and brown bread stuffing separately.
