I've always hated the national anthem, it's total pants.
God Save The Queen is actually a German hymn, the Americans know the tune as My Country 'Tis Of Thee, so it's not even unique or Brit-specific.
It also has that verse about "rebellious Scots to crush" which everyone glosses over.
I agree that our national anthem should celebrate the country as a whole, even if it gets a little bit daft "soaring mountains, golden sands, fields of emerald green", etc... It's best to leave out specifics like squirrels, poll tax and the Welsh, but dumbarse athletes will blubber and cry at bugger all on the podium, so you can pretty much get away with anything.
