Isle of Bute Under Attack from Warship?
« on: August 22, 2009, 12:18:10 PM »
I was out having drinks with some sailors last night. (I've realised that wearing a sailors outfit is a sure-fire way to pull the birds, by the way.)

HMS Argyll is parked in the bay, so they were getting hammered and taking over the karaoke... >:(

Anyway, this morning the guns are going off, and there's loads of smoke and stuff. I'm pretty sure I didn't upset any of them. Must just be some kind of gun-salute.

It's Highland Games day today, so maybe that's got something to do with it. Mince ought to enter the competition for Tossing the Caber. (The biggest tosser wins.)
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

It's nothing to do with your singing?

I remember working on HMS Argyll, but it's over 20 years ago. Didn't know her motto was the same as the clan Campbell "ne obliviscaris" (forget not), but the Argyll name would explain that.
Sadly it won't be too long before our Government sells her off to another lesser Navy.
