It is too bad that Roger quit writing Andy Capp - he could have used some of these.

....which brings me to a question I was going to ask earlier:
Has the new writer/artist of Andy Capp begun his stint yet? If so, how is he going? Please post honest opinions of the strip under the new regime - EXCEPT for Roger, who of course will be magnanimous and complimentary to a fault, so Roger is OUT of this thread.

Yes, you. OUT.

Before I go, I can tell you that the new team has been in place since around last April.

From the ones I've seen, not too bad. The artist is the same, but I believe there are two writers. Lawrence Goldsmith is a cartoonist in his own right, and has contributed to the Daily Mirror over the years already. (He is actually already employed by them as a sub, or similar, I believe I'm right in saying?)

This is his Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001770603791

He occasionally includes Andy Capp strips...

I knew the team had been in PLACE for a while, but there's those interminable time lags where one contributor's stuff runs out and the new guy takes over, then there's the bedding-in process, must give the bloke time to get his eye in, so to speak. I reckon almost a year is enough bedding-in.

Basically I want someone to trash it and say it's a shadow of the great strip now that this new writer is doing it. You're not helping at all, Peeps.

I have immense respect for the previous writer of Andy Capp, and old Kettle-Features was always going to be a hard act to follow, but I have to be fair and say that the new guys don't seem to be doing too bad a job. I had expected a disaster, but that hasn't unfolded.

Ah, I suspected as much, Lil, but I didn't like to say...
