Alberta Provincial Election
« on: April 19, 2012, 03:40:33 AM »
After 41 years of practically a one-party right-wing rule, there is a chance to shake things up in Alberta! It has been the most exciting of times politically speaking.  In our riding the left doesn’t stand a chance, it does in others – particularly the cities, but I would just be wasting my vote and risking a ultra-right win by not backing up the current party. So I made up this Facebook banner tonight.

Now, the big question: did I pick the right "where" in my poster - both work but this one seemed better at the time.
People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

Yes, you picked the right "where".

But the other would have worked too - that was a tricky sentence.

Sorry, I'm probably being thick and missing something obvious, but the only other versions of "where" I can think of are "wear" and "ware", and I can't think of any way that either of those make the slightest bit of sense in your sentence.

I do think those wheels are unfortunately placed for the woman on the right!

The nipples are overly large, and one seems inverted. I can't vote for her.

"were" - that would work too.

The "boob bus" story even got picked up on American TV "Ellen" - it has, like I say been an exciting election.

The boob bus lady wants to give everyone a $300 payment from oil revenue while we wait 5 weeks for a doctor's appointment and our seniors are in hospital beds instead of long term care facilities. She wants to no longer have Health Care pay for abortion. She is like the Sarah Palin of Alberta...but the scary thing is she stands a very good chance of winning.  <-

The right wing are very clever - offer the same old version or your choice of the new bat-shit crazy version and the progressives in rural areas are too scared to take a chance on voting anthing other than old version.

I excpect to be very sad on Monday. Best think up some cheer me up jokes to have on hand.

You mean someone else picked up on here booberoonies? Mind you, that's a good way of getting publicity.

I've always liked the way some advertising companies have used double-decker bus windows, with people's heads, to be part of accompanying posters. I shall have to try and find an example...

Right, I'm back. Here's one...

I guess we have nothing to complain about here in Alberta after all. That is awful to use unwilling people as part of your living ad. I would pick my nose the whole time I were riding the bus.

You will be pleased to know that this old Lefty is breathing a sigh of relief today. The right wing won a majority government - but the bat-shit-crazy-ultra-right did pick up 34% of the popular vote - we could have quite easily been the laughing stock of Canada this morning.
