Best Before dates
« on: June 13, 2012, 07:08:44 PM »
I have a bag of chocolate covered almonds that have a best before date of March 15, 2013 at 6:54

It doesn't say whether that is AM or PM - the manufacturers are being a bit lapse with the public's safety I would say.

Do everything you can to try and eat the aforementioned chocolate covered almonds before March 15th. That way the time becomes irrelevant. If you know how many individual sweeties are in the packet, you could possibly earmark a plan, using a calendar, and allocating almonds to certain days leading up to 15th March 2013.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

And there seems to be a complete lack of information about time zones. What might be safe to eat in Canada could be lethal in the UK. That's not a bag of chocolate almonds, Diane, that's a bag of pure dynamite.

I Know, I am tired of these candy people playing fast and loose with our lives.

The only candy people I know are Jelly Babies. (Gingerbread Men are biscuits, aren't they?)

I suspect it's in the morning, as presumably they would put 18:54 if it were referring to the time in the evening.

I suggest going out and purchasing several more bags of chocolate covered almonds (the larger the sample size the better) and checking the date and timestamps on each of those, to confirm whether or not they use a 24-hour clock system.

Of course, you'll then have to find some way of "disposing" of those extra bags too, but that's a small price to pay in the name of health and safety.

That sounds like a sensible way to tackle the situation Jack.
