of the passing of my favourite cup  :(

We had a long and happy relationship which I'm afraid has now come to an end.

Goodbye dear friend  :'(

NOT a funny headline – I’m on dial-up and wondered which of the old codgers who post on this board (just about everyone here is an old codger) had passed away while waiting for connections after seeing the new post email.

Besides that – there is nothing the matter with that mug – you just twist it around so you don’t see the handle and stick pens and pencils in it. Years of good use left.

People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

Given the one sent to me, I thought that was how they were supposed to look.

As reported previously, No 1 mug is still serving as an invalid having had its stumps of a handle smoothed over.  It now sits on duty as a pen holder on my desk and even has a Help for Heroes wristband as a rubber bumper. No 2 cup however did pass away in the line of duty, spilling it's contents in the process.  It has gone to that great mug haven somewhere in Dorset.  Nos 3 and 4 remain on active duty.

Colin, from forensic examination of your dear friend, I have identified that he had been working whilst injured ( close exam of the top break shows old staining indicative of a hairline fracture).  He must have been quite brave (and in pain) whilst serving you your mugs of tea/coffee.  Or you were a cruel tyrant that did not care about his welfare as you could have initiated some first aid to support his handle.

You've been putting tea and coffee in them? Well, there's your problem.

Closer examination shows damage to the rim also. This may have been an assault.

Surely Earl Grey's okay?
