Christmas Presents
« on: December 24, 2016, 01:50:34 PM »
Is anyone looking forward to presents this year? Does anyone know what they are getting?

I'm hoping for a vegan hammer and a pair of homeschooled socks.

Definitely looking forward to giving a present this year, although there's an element of panic as well.  I wrote a song for my wife, typed up the lyrics, recorded the song on to my phone, transferred that to my computer and converted it to an MP3.  Stage two was a tad fraught but was eventually accomplished [yesterday], I sent both to my brother-in-law [who performs at various folk clubs etc] and he arranged, performed and re-recorded it, and now it's on a CD sitting under the Christmas tree.  I like it but I have no idea if Suzanne [my better half] will, it definitely feels weird hearing one of my songs actually performed by someone else. Of course he now has my recording, which is possibly the best blackmail material he's ever had...

That's romantic, Red. I write books for my wife, but I have not finished the current one, so this Christmas it's chocolate and irons.

A lovely gesture, Red. Please let us know if it gets the deserved reaction!

The song was a great success, I scored at least a million points, sadly they expired later the same day.  I did get the vague impression my wife was slightly more impressed with her brothers singing than my writing, but hey, what else are professional coattails for?   If you're really unlucky [and you all probably are] I may post it here tomorrow, naturally my brother-in-law has declined to destroy the original version [me singing] - it will I am sure rear its ugly head at some point in the future...

Be well and enjoy the rest of Christmas.

Oh, I think you must post your original version, Red. This is a family forum, and no place for a love song being performed to the singer's sister!  :o

I apologise, in advance.
