Dundee Utd v Dundee

This one's for Roger specifically, but anyone who follows the Scottish football scene can chip in.

On a football forum over here in Oz, a guy I know to be a Dundee Utd supporter has listed the top ten football rivalries in the world. Among them is Dundee Utd v Dundee.

I know it's a strong rivalry, but is it actually bigger than Dundee Utd v Aberdeen?

I would have thought the rivalry from McLean/Ferguson years remained?

Wrong on both counts, Malc - St Johnstone Vs. Dundee beats them all!
I apologise, in advance.

One of the biggest in the whole country (not Scotland) is Wolves v West Brom.
Nostalgia is not what it used to be. 😟

Malc, I certainly wouldn't place the rivalry between Dundee and Dundee United in the world's top ten. Matches between the two are, as you would expect, pretty intense but there is nothing like the bitterness/hatred you see in Old Firm derbies. I'm pretty sure you could find a dozen derbies in South America that are ten times as volatile.
Aberdeen are unpopular, full stop. They have a nasty sub-culture of "casuals" and an arrogance about their team that hasn't been merited for 30 years.

MadJock - the women on here aren't that keen on us men-folk discussing football. Mince especially would be more interested in Embroidery v Knitting.

I think you went too far with this sentence!
