.. I was just a boy when it all began, of course.
Yea, course you were Roger ;).   Well, if you can remember that far back, let me know what your personal favourite strip or series is, and I'll post them up on here.   They don't have to be those reprinted in the books either.  Ask Andrew what his is as well, next time you see him..
Rob, I was speaking to Andrew today and we both came to the same conclusion. Neither of us has a favouite strip or series. Of course, we're both extremely old now and can't remember what we did yesterday so that doesn't help. However, we did agree that we still enjoy the strips where Dennis loses his temper----the moments when his frustration gets the better of him. They're fun to do.
I'll spend a few pleasant hours going through my archive and see what I can dig out.  But Tarq's posts on the Andy Capp thread has made me feel a bit guilty - are you ok for me to scan some strips onto here Roger?

I love looking at Diane's strips. There's a moment where you suddenly see the lasting style of the series starting to take shape. Around about page 32 when we first meet the Nomad.
Totally agree Peepsy.  Compared to those early strips, don't you think the Nomad has evolved into a right little short-arse?

Funnily enough, Roger hadn't intended the character to be a self-portrait when he devised him.

Scan away, Rob.

Nothing you say can hurt me, Peeps----Rangers have just scored an injury-time equaliser against United.

Belated Happy Birthday to Beau!  Well done, Roger and Andrew. Don't like all this talk about how long ago that was.  :(

I thought I could hear long-distance sobbing. What a bummer.

There's a a series from Book 1 that I really DON'T like. It's the one about Beau sitting by an oasis with his feet in the water. I remember, when I was writing it, thinking that a third foot appearing in the water would be funny. After that, I had no idea how to tie up the series and it doesn't half show. Like every cartoonist, I cringe at a lot of my stuff when I re-read it but that particular one comes under the "what was I thinking?" category.
