Alive and well after a great break. Having been on the go since half five this morning, I will fill in some details tomorrow. Oh, and Happy Birthday, Peeps!

Oh thanks, Roger. That's kind. I'd forgotten about you.

I like the reference to the England football song in the thread title. Good stuff!

Glad you're back Roger!
People will come from strange lands to hear me speak my words of wisdom. They will ask me the secret of life and I will tell them. Then maybe I'll finish off with a song. The Nomad

Looking forward to seeing your photos on Picasa, or Flikr, or whichever site you upload them to, Roger. It will be good to see what the interior of the Albufeira bars look like.

Picassa or Flikr---always a tough choice for me in Portuguese restaurants.
I enjoy the Algarve a lot. One of the many joys is taking off from Glasgow at 1.50 p.m. and being at the villa (October cut-rate) at 6 p.m. I always take into account that these infrequent holidays are every much about my wife as they are about myself. That's why I took her to the local Sports Bar to watch Fulham v. Hull on Monday night.

Wow, Roger! I bet that was the highlight of her holiday.  ..0

My wife is like that, always complaining that I never take her anywhere.

I thought I would surprise her the other night, so I booked a table for 7pm.

By 9pm she still hadn't potted a red.  <-

;D Ohh, that'd make a great Andy Capp strip.

Hope you and Mrs Kettle had a great break, Roger. What was the weather like? I'm off for a week down to darkest Cornwall tommorow. In winter. With all my sister's kids. Can't wait.

Welcome back, Roger! Glad to hear you had a great time.  Hmmm, I'd be making you pay for that particular piece of torture - hope there was a nice view out of the bar, or was it in some sleazy back alley?  From Rob's pics, doesn't look like Albufeira would have sleazy back alleys.

Have a good time in Cornwall, Rob.  Do they have 'getaway from kids' pubs down there?  I've never been.
