Remembering Seattle Kate

Some of the newer posters will not know about Kate, she was a long time contributor to the first two Beau Peep notice boards. This Saturday is the first anniversary of her untimely passing. Our thoughts are with you Max.

Kate on keeping life in perspective: Perspective, folks. Perspective. It can all be tragic. However, I found a picture of my father and me together, Dad laughing at some stupid thing I was doing. It's the only picture of us I have. So, to me, things aren't so bad.

Would it be too much of an imposition to know a little more about Kate?

On a sort of related matter, Over the Rainbow sung by Eva Cassidy (another lady who passed on far too young) is one of my favourite songs.

Kate sounds like she was a formidable (say it with a French accent - either way) lady with a great sense of humour. Sorry I missed her. Wonderful tribute indeed, Diane.

Diane thank you,  I should have known you would remember Kate.

For the new people who didn't know Kate, I had the honour of being her man for eight years.
We never shared a home, instead both of us bounced across the Atlantic around four times a year or more, we spent every hour we could together.
Kate loved Scotland, I loved Seattle, eventually one of us would have made a home...... someplace, probably the Caribbean, or Argyll.

I'm not going to get maudlin here about Kate, I'll save that for tomorrow and my own company.

Kate worked for the Government in Washington State, before that she worked in an Oregon Penitentiary, she was from Roseburg Oregon.
I often called her the delectable Miss Kate,  but only because she was beautiful.

A tomboy, she had to be because of her four brothers, Kate loved American football and eventually (excuse me)  soccer.
People who met Kate either in real or online grew to love her, she had a wicked sense of humour though it never became cruel.

Kate loved Beau Peep and the website, I took all the annuals to her, every morning I would call her and read through the newspapers, always ending up with the Star.

Ever tried describing a cartoon like Beau Peep down a phone?  It's not easy.

We shared a love of speed even though I killed her car... the happy lemon (an 8 year old Escort with 200,000 miles on the clock).
I let her drive my cars, which terrified her... secretly she loved it.

I have so much I could say here, but I won't, I'm sure you get a picture of Kate and the person she was.

She made me alive and the man I am, I miss her.

Max, I'm so glad you've come back online.....a clumsy expression but you know what I mean.
The words I wrote a year ago remain true. I cannot believe the loss I felt at the death of someone I had never met. Kate was vibrant, funny and compassionate. It was a treat to come on the site and see there was a new post from "Seattle Kate". I miss her dreadfully so God knows how you feel. I will think of you both tomorrow.

The good thing about these forums is that you get to know some fantastic people without actually meeting them. I've never read any of Kate's posts, but by reading the comments on here, she sounds like she was a very special person ...and I'm sure where she is now, she is looking as fondly upon you, as you are remembering her.

I am a member of several message boards on which I have come to know people purely through what they post. There is one such person in Texas whom I count as a very good friend, though I have never met her. (Perhaps I should get off my arse and visit her.) I know how good it is to be cheered up by the posts of a wonderful person.
