It's best to just ignore what he says, Diane.

I concur.

That's unfair. It's almost as if no one wants Diane to comment on my post. I was looking forward to hearing her perspective of the comments I'd made, so of course I'll be disappointed if she doesn't now. :-(

Do I look weird? I don't think so. Regardless of anyone's favourite hairstyle, I sometimes wonder if there's an animal that it would be preferable to date if humans were not available. So long as there’s no monkey business, it would be okay to date a parrot – one that said “yes, dear” would keep most relationships going for years.

Those of you you enjoy walking are sure to have done some stupid things whilst enjoying a ramble. Yes, one must be stupid to ramble when one can buy cars.

Whatever the biggest number in the world is, or the longest word, we've surely all seen things that can only be described as "weird"! < -- I just saw a “weird” – isn’t that a weird coincidence.

Women who can't use their cutlery in a ladylike manner, are generally those with hardly any Beau peep books, I assume - probably because they would be unlikely to ever fancy, or want to date a Beau Peep character! Must agree, people without Beau Peep books are utter savages.

I still get nuisance phone calls, but never a call from someone especially famous or desirable. Now that would be cool! Unless they were trying to sell you a new phone plan – then Brad Pitt can do to himself what I tell all the others to do.

Talking of hairstyles, I sometimes look at old photos and see that there were certain periods of my life when my hair wasn't at its best. Immediately after being born, for example.  Maybe you need new glasses – you were a total babe back then!

I don't wear skirts really, but it did get me thinking of how brave I would be regarding the hemline, if I did. I live for a day when a man is not judged by the length of his hemline but rather the content of his glovebox.

I don't have pets, and wonder how many I'd cope with having in my house at any one time. Some old biddies have houses full of cats, for example. Oh come on Nige, you must be five years away from being classified as an “old biddy”.

Ginger ale seems to be a popular drink in some parts of the world, but I can't imagine that everyone would have it as their favourite. Not when there is Orange Crush to pick from too.

Giving names to visiting elks, or similar creatures would be fun. I'd have to think up quite a few if a pack of such creatures came calling. When elk are in groups they are called a “gang” – so they wouldn’t like you calling them a pack.

Hang on...there's more!

I have only ever done one public speech, and that was as a best man at a wedding years ago. I am sure many that done done more. Depends how many times the bloke gets married really doesn’t it? You could be asked loads more times!

Thre's a book at our library - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Nobody seems to want to read it. That’s because it was made into a movie.

Oh well - I have to pop out. I told Lucy I'd be watching the sky and looking for cloud formations. Some of the shapes can be really good for a giggle, as I'm sure many of you know. I didn’t know the Black Bull had put in a skylight?

Thanks, Diane.

I enjoyed your observations, and especially the way you avoided telling the world what your own favourite hairstyle is., or how many Beau Peep books you yourself actually own :-)

Glad also that there's never been a time when you've had a particularly bad hairstyle, that you now regret.

Regarding hemlines, I don't suppose people wear skirts out in the wilds of Canada, especially above the knee. Too many brambles I'd imagine.

I personally would never date someone from a Beau Peep strip, because they're not real. if I could, it'd be Vera, mainly because there are few women in the strip! I suppose women would have plenty of choice in such circumstances. I wonder who'd be most "desirable"...

(I do hope I'm not the most annoying contributor on here by the way, as far as you're concerned.)

Thanks for not calling me an "old biddy"! I'm not sure I'd be able to get as many animals in my house as you would. Just in a small flat at the moment. Probably big enough for one or two creatures, whereas I'd imagine your house has hosted more than that at any one time. We'll never know.

I enjoyed your posts about the toastmaking by the way. Sounds like you did too, and you must have had to stand up and orate quite a few times. Me? Only ever once, as I previously mentioned.

I think it's brilliant. Like watching an old drunk fella trying to fight his reflection.

I can't believe Peepmaster asked you what your favourite hairstyle is. Diane, tell me the answer, not him, because that is such a weird question. (Don't you hate him more than anyone else here?)

Hi Diane, hope you don't mind, but as a newcomer I thought I would jump in and answer some of these questions so people on here get to know me better. Please feel free to edit or comment on my answers / post. 8)

Thanks, Diane.

Has to be the 80's Mullet!       Doesn't everyone on here have all the books?

See above! :o

Never worn a skirt but I would say it's more to do with the snow than brambles......blackberries in Yorkshire! :P

Yep, agree, but for the ladies, surely there can be only one............

I haven't come across this as yet..........are people annoying?

1 cat here, but maybe Diane has the Canadian equivelent of Noah's Ark!

I hate doing this, my daughter just got married and of course I was first up..........didn't sleep well for weeks before hand! Mother's don't have to make a speech so I would imagine opportunites for toast making are limited........ooooo I do like toast!

When Peeps is talking about me and public speaking – he is talking about my involvement in Toastmasters. This is now my fourth  year. I highly recommend that you check it out in your area. It really helps you to get over yourself and get on with your message.

Not really Mince. It took me three years to do the 10 speeches that are required to get my CC “Competent Communicator” certificate and badge. I am going great guns at it this year though with three done already and another booked for January.

Some people have been there a lot longer than me and have only done two or three. It is a nice night out, we have some laughs and you learn some things – meetings are only an hour. Some people do “tips” over and over again – this is like a mini-speech as they only need to be 2-3 minutes. This is how many people build up their confidence to eventually do a speech which can be anywhere from 5-12 minutes.

Some people can attend meetings  for more than a year before they speak long enough (60 seconds) for the minimum time to answer a “Table Topics” question. Everyone gets better by the end of the year but each is working at their own pace and nobody is pushed into doing speeches they are not ready to do. You challenge yourself.

I started off not being able to breathe when giving presentations to our councils asking for more money for the library when I was on the library board. Now, I don’t think I am in anyway a fantastic speaker, but I feel I could present anything if needed. It also helps with talking to people in everyday life especially in stressful situations.

I could do a long speech if the subject was about stupid people like Peepmaster who should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for things they do,

Technically, that would be classified as a “rant”.
